Conversion kit for upgrading of the crankcase ventilation system on the first generation of Volvo Penta 31 and 41-series diesel engines with crankcase ventilation filter mounted. The first generation of the Volvo Penta AD 31 & 41 engine series facing challenge with the crankcase filter clogging by leaking motor oil around the filter or oil mist passing through the crankcase filter. This is caused on the old 31-41 engines with crankcase ventilation filter and no oil trap installed. This usually usually causing the air filter to clog or even worse reach the intercooler. This is usually identified by engine stalling and generating black smoke (blocked air flow). Upgrade the crankcase ventilation system with conversion “air kit” with several benefits. Let your engine breathe properly with better fuel consumption and less smoke as result. Save from preventing changing air and crankcase ventilation filters at every service interval. Installation is simple and “do it yourself” work. Remove the crankcase ventilation filter (876069) and plug the hole with the special designed blind plug. Swap the cylinder 1, 2 or 3 valve cover with the updated valvecover with oil trap. Mount the hose to the new valve cover with hose fitting and install the hose close to the engine block. The updated valve cover oil trap insert is completely maintenance free. CAUTION: The new valve cover is delivered un-painted. We recommend to paint it with primer part no.
